Beech the bear at Balkasar Sanctuary

You helped give the bears at Balkasar a wonderful surprise

News

With your support, a special new digging playground has been created to entertain the bears’ curiosity at Balkasar Sanctuary in Pakistan.

Whether they’re tracking down ants to eat or carving out a cool spot to doze in, Balkasar’s bears have made it their mission to dig up as much soil as possible. To fulfil their digging dreams, the bears have just been given a dedicated digging zone to keep their sharp claws active and their clever minds entertained.

This new playground was set up by the carers at Balkasar as part of a cunning plan to stop the adventurous bears from digging under the sanctuary’s fences. Though their natural curiosity was wonderful to witness, safety had to come first for our furry friends.

Now, the bears are loving their new ‘dirt castle’. The mischievous brown bears in particular are big fans of the playground. As soon as it was ready, they dove straight in and started digging for any insects they could find. Meanwhile, the calm black bears stood by patiently, watching from afar as their friends went dirt-mad.

Thanks to your help, the bears have lost interest in tunnelling around the sanctuary border and are now embracing their love of digging in a much safer way.

Thank you for giving the rescued bears of Balkasar safe and happy homes, where they can live their best lives in peace.
