2024 Animal Achievements Wrapped: Celebrating wins you made possible
News
You’ve worked tirelessly in 2024 to end the cruelty experienced by wild animals in the global wildlife trade and improve the lives of farm animals in Australia and around the world.
Thank you for your wonderful work for animals! Here’s a heartwarming recap of just a few of your many achievements for animals in the past year:
Some of the many remarkable ways you’ve helped protect animals this year:
- With YOUR support, our partners at Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN) successfully rescued 31 monkeys in Cirebon, Indonesia, making a significant leap in our joint mission to end the brutal ‘Dancing Monkeys’ trade for good.
- For more than a decade, YOU worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the immense suffering of millions of sheep in the live export trade and this year the Federal Government announced the phase-out date of this brutal trade.
- YOU supported 10 new Wildlife Heritage Areas to join our programme, helping local communities to protect wild animals like gorillas in Rwanda or orangutans in Indonesia in their natural environment, and set a benchmark for responsible tourism.

Live sheep export to end
Australian sheep will no longer suffer in the barbaric live export trade from 2028.
- By investigating the connection between the annual Taiji dolphin hunts in Japan and the tourism industry, YOU shone a light on how global travel companies are selling tickets to venues linked to this inhumane hunt and are fuelling this cruelty.
- Thanks to YOUR support, Queensland's popular tourist venue, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, stopped selling koala cuddles, meaning over a hundred captive koalas at their venue will finally be free from stressful human/koala direct encounters.
- YOU gave animals a voice by petitioning the Thai Government to stop captive elephant breeding for profit. And lobbying global travel companies TUI and GetYourGuide to stop selling tickets to cruel wildlife attractions.

- YOU helped care for bears in our partner sanctuaries and helped another elephant camp to transition to become elephant-friendly.
- Tapirs, anteaters and a jaguar injured by the man-made fires in Brazil were rescued and rehabilitated thanks to YOU and our partners, Onçafari Association and Instituto Tamanduá.
You did it all and more for farm animals and wildlife in the past year and these massive milestones simply wouldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support. On behalf of animals everywhere, thank you.
Together, we’ve achieved so much for animals. With you by our side in 2025, we’ll achieve even more for these sentient beings.
Will you protect animals?
